How a family is changed with an adoption?
Once a family decides to join an adoption program a lot of new things can be expected. The family can undergo all sorts of changes as the adoption process is not easily taken by most people. The first thing you need to consider is that most families have been trying to have babies of their own for years before they considered adoption. This alone can be traumatizing a lot and can cause a lot of pain and frustration inside the couple. Once people decide to go for adoption, they often expect someone to hand them a baby and make them happy but this rarely happens. Once couples are struck by the standards they need to fit, they immediately get freaked out and realize this is not a game and it will surely not be easy. The couple will be questioned a lot and will be under a large amount of stress as the process can take a few months, maybe even a year.
During the process, maybe even before applying, there are some changes that need to be done if you are going to fulfill the required standards. This sort of analysis of a family can be quite stressful on a lot of people. Some of them will even fake being ok, just for the sake of finalizing the process and having their baby. It has not happened once that a stressful process like this has produces wounds inside the couple that will never really heal. The couple can become unstable or suddenly find that they don`t want the same things anymore. Still, most of the times they stick together, as the one who is having doubts doesn`t want to crush the other one`s heart. This is exactly what makes the process so long. I would say that the adoption process is a way of testing the couple and see if they are really ready to face such responsibilities. If they manage to stick through, chances are, they are also going to make good parents.
Once you`ve adopted a child, your life is entirely changed. First of all, you will both probably be overwhelmed by everything that is happening and will need some time to adjust with the new family format. You will suddenly have a new family member who is carrying your name and that could make you burst in tears of joy. Once you get over this state, the real changes come along. As the nursery room is usually prepared in advance, the couple still needs to change their entire life once they have their child. Everything from the hour they go to bed at night to what they are eating will change. A child changes your schedule entirely, and I`m not even going to mention how it changes your feeling towards everything. You will find yourself taking it easier when you`re driving, as you have a great responsibility now. Adoption makes you more responsible, but it will give you a sense of fulfillment that you can only experience once you have a child.
